Some of you may be wondering, what does 1989 have to do with State of Gratitude? WELL, let us tell you. This collection is inspired by looks popularized in the 80s, specifically acid washed and tie dye clothing. AND, surprisingly enough, I was born in the year 1989.
State of Gratitude is committed to making new and unique looks that really bring our inside out. This new collection features garments dyed and washed by our hands only, right here in Miami. Each piece is one of a kind and completely unique. It’s quite exciting to be able to bring you all something new for the summer.
We have also been exploring so many different neighborhoods within the City of Miami realizing all the beauty that each sector contains. While spending time in the Wynwood neighborhood, there is an inexplicable sense of beauty within the chaos of all the graffitied walls up and down every block. Sometimes life is chaotic, the feeling of being pulled in a million different directions and overwhelming. The hustle and bustle of a city life can swallow one up if there is little to no sense of self within. In a land full of opportunity and chaos, how do we find the beauty within this chaos and find ourselves? This question is something that can be challenging to answer with a simple answer. There is an ebb and flow to life, chaos followed by serenity, followed by chaos again. From birth to death. It is a cycle, a cycle which is necessary and inevitable in life.
Choosing to see the beauty of chaos and embracing the serenity throughout all life’s struggles is what keeps us grateful. It’s what allows us to not get swallowed up by the motion and commotion of life surrounding us.
Take an hour each day at least for self care, take a yoga class, go for a walk in a nearby park, or watch an exciting movie. There are so many ways that we can choose to see the beauty of life as it so quickly passes us by.
1989 is a collection of love, patience, and rebirth. Every morning, we have the choice to see each struggle and obstacle to persevere and thrive or to crash and burn. Take it from us, don’t crash and burn, it’s not as cute as it sounds.
